Designing Your Funeral

How to Honor a Life

OUR HISTORY

The Powell family came to White County in 1960 and purchased the funeral home in Bald Knob, which had been in continuous operation since the 1880's. A short time later, Mr. Bob acquired Kinney Funeral Home in nearby Judsonia and the funeral home in Augusta. In the early 1980's, Mr. Powell decide area families could be better served by a larger more modern facility so he built the current location and combined both the Bald Knob and Judsonia businesses. Having the deep desire to serve others, the Powell family saw the need to expand their services into Searcy and in March 2000 our Searcy location was opened. Since 1960, thousands of area families have placed their trust in the men and woman of the Powell Funeral Homes.

In August 2021, the Powell Family sold their 3 locations to long time employee, Tyler Hyatt and wife, Jada Brooks-Hyatt. Tyler has been a funeral director/embalmer with the funeral homes since 1994 and served many years as the company's general manager. In July 2022, the Bradford Memorial Funeral Home was purchased in nearby Bradford, Arkansas.  Powell Funeral Homes proudly remain independent and locally owned. The Hyatt family and staff believe that we are accountable to you, not an out-of-town board of directors. We believe that our most valuable possession is our reputation. We are kind, gentle, and knowledgeable men and women who respect your right to choose without pressure or undue influence. Every staff associate is expected and empowered to do anything it takes to serve your family well. Our fair prices represent the greatest value in the area. Our facilities are the most spacious and well designed funeral homes in our area. We are able to serve any need, accommodate any size gathering and tailor services to fit your financial resources. Our staff has more years of combined experience than any funeral establishment in this area.
